WIP Kitty Cat Art Original Painting Work in Progress + Sketch of a Poinsettia, Icelandic Poppy Flower & Big Eye Goddess/ December 20, 21, & 22 Sketches Daily...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a cat I've blocked in the underpainting for the background.  There will be some more layering in the background before I move on to the kitty underpainting...  The panel that I'm painting on is 8"x10"

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Here is a sketch of a poinsettia.  I love watching their leaves turn from green to red this time of year...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in December.  This is from day 20.

This is still a very rough sketch, I just felt like a bit of color so I used colored pencils.

Here is a sketch of an icelandic poppy.  I think poppies are one of my favorite flowers, they are so delicate...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in December.  This is from day 21.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems to have a wary expression...  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I took this photograph of these red orange icelandic poppies at Descanso Gardens some time in May.  They are not presently blooming, but I was looking through my images and thought they were too beautiful not to share.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is looking downwards with a wary expression...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in October. This is day 18.

Original Big Eye Goddess Aphrodite Venus Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints! August Sketches...

I'm going out of town tomorrow 8/23, I could be gone for around a week, but I'm hoping that my trip will only last a few days.  I'll try to keep sketching for my daily sketch challenge and I hope to post the sketches that I complete upon my return.

"Aphrodite" Original 5"x7" Painting on Canvas Panel Here

This week my featured painting is "Aphrodite."  She has big blue green teal eyes and blonde hair with purple streaks.  Aphrodite (also known to the Romans as Venus) is the Greek goddess of love and is part of my goddess series.  I think love is so very important.  The original big eye surreal lowbrow fantasy goddess painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is flowers and includes a selection of some of my white flower art; you may see them here.

I am linking this post with Inspire Me Monday

Here is a sketch of an oriental poppy.  I think they are such beautiful flowers, I saw them first in Georgia O'Keefe's gorgeous paintings and they have been dear to me ever since...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I took this photograph of this pink lotus water lily at Huntington Gardens.  At the core of these gorgeous flowers is a lotus seed pod that is also beautiful to behold.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a look of certainty and intensity.  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

My Photograph of a Red Poppy at Descanso Gardens + May Sketches Art, Day 11 100th Sketch, Fairy Angel...

I took this photograph of this red poppy at Descanso Gardens.  At least I think it's a poppy, it has the same kind of core and stems, but it's fluffier than any I have seen before.  Prior to this year, I had seen only Icelandic poppies and California poppies.  This year was my first year seeing in person some of the red ones I have so loved from Georgia O'Keefe's paintings... I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  I knew I wanted to sketch her, but my reference was fairly small and I couldn't quite make out what was going on with her hat.  Then I realized I wanted it to be a birdcage hat, obviously the cage is too small for the bird to live in and she is merely transporting the bird, but I thought it was fun conceptually...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be an mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is day 11.  I believe this is my 100th consecutive sketch!

This is a rough sketch.

My Photograph of a Spring Flowers at Descanso Gardens + May Sketches Art, Day 4, Angel Fairy...

I took this photograph of these spring flowers at Descanso Gardens.  There are tulips and poppies and I'm not certain of the names of the rest.  In many of my photos, I focus on close ups, but this view was so pretty I could not resist.  We're past the point where these spring blossoms bloom there, but I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She glances sweetly upwards with most of her hair swept up...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

My Photograph of Purple Anemone Flowers at Huntington Gardens...

I took this macro photograph of these purple flowers at Huntington Gardens a while back.  I'm not certain, but I think they are some kind of poppy.  I love purple flowers and these really caught my eye.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Edit:  It looks like these beautiful blooms are actually anemone flowers, thank you Georgie!

A Photograph of a Purple Burgundy Icelandic Poppy at Descanso Gardens...

I believe this purple burgundy flower is an Icelandic poppy.  I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens some time ago, they aren't currently blooming here, but I love to visit flowers in my photographs that I have seen at different times.  I think poppies are such a sweet and lovely flower.  I hope you will enjoy this photo.
