Original Art: "Corazón Onírico" Big Eye Girl with a Unicorn Toned Drawing

  EDIT: SOLD, Thanks so much!

I'm so excited to share this original traditional toned drawing, "Corazón Onírico" (Dreamy Heart). Created with colored pencils on beautiful toned paper, this one-of-a-kind piece captures a magical moment between a sweet, big-eyed Latina girl and her unicorn. She holds him close, a silent protector of a little bit of magic.

This original fine art piece measures 8"x10" and is a unique addition to any collection. I'm also planning to develop this concept into a future painting!

If you're interested in owning this piece of original art, please contact me, I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the piece!

Snowy Night! Original Fantasy Unicorn Painting...

"Snowy Night" Original 7"x5" #Painting Sold, Open Edition 7"x5" Giclee Prints & Limited Edition Giclee ACEO LE Prints Here

I love June, there are unicorns everywhere!  It follows that I also love unicorns...  Their magical charms just draw me in.  I've painted a few unicorns, a couple of abstract fiery ones and this snow cooled big eyed white unicorn.  I definitely have more that I want to paint, they hold such a strong allure for me.

This month in addition to #Junicorn, Alex Ledante is also insisting it's #KaiJune, check out some of his outstanding art here for a totally different perspective!

Farewell to Junicorn! Abstract Expressionist Sunset Sunrise Fantasy Unicorn Art...

This unicorn and I bid you adieu to Junicorn from lisabellarusso.com!

"Freeborn" The original painting is not available, but Open Edition 8"x10" Giclee Prints & Limited Edition Giclee ACEO Prints are available Here

I love unicorns!  This is an older piece with an abstract expressionist feel.  There is also a companion piece with a similar feel on my website.  I have a couple of ideas for new unicorn paintings, but at this point they are only ideas.  I hope to do some work on them but I have other projects at the front of the queue.  They're definitely in my project wishlist though!  I hope the closing of Junicorn treats you well...

I didn't get a chance to feature my unicorns on my first Tuesday of the month ebay listings, but I will try to do so in July with some of my dragons thrown in for good measure as well!

December 6-18 Sketches

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in December. They are all rough sketches.  I'm quite a bit behind in sharing my daily sketches, so I've grouped the images in groups so it isn't quite so overwhelming.  You may see them individually on facebook here.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

December 6:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems to be considering potentials.  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a mermaid.
December 7:  Here is a sketch of zinnia blossoms.  They are full of lovely details...
December 8:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems contemplative...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.
December 9:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has an intensity to her...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.
December 10:  Here is a sketch of delphinium blossoms.  These flowers have such a delicate appeal...

December 11:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems perhaps a little woeful...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.
December 12:  Here is a sketch of an anthurium.  I love these flowers...
December 13:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems to be pondering a matter of depth...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.
December 14:  Here is a sketch of a black eyed susan blossom and bud.  These flowers are full of charm...
December 15:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a dashing mask...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.

December 16:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a compassionate quality...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.
December 17:  Here is a sketch of a calla lily.  I love these flowers...
December 18:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a delicate demeanor...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.

Sketch of a Big Eye Fairy Angel & Metal Unicorn Clip, June 10 & 11, Art Sketches Daily...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is wearing an exotic hat and I think she is visiting at a ball.  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in June.  This was from day 10.

This is a rough sketch.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a metal unicorn clip...  It is meant to hold papers and it can be hung on the wall.  Alex gave it to me and I love it, but I haven't decided on a use special enough to put this lovely item to, so for now it lives on my dresser.  I doubt I'll paint it, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in June.  This is day 11.

This is a rough sketch.

Unicorn Painting Work in Progress, Almost Fini...

Here is a work in progress view of a unicorn.  It was inspired by a photograph of a horse by Shawn Parker.  I am very close to being finished with this one.  A little more work on the mane, a little bit more light on the horn, and some touch ups and I should be able to post the finished piece on Tuesday...

Sogetsu Ikebana Japanese Flower Arrangements at Descanso Gardens Part I & Unicorn WIP

On one of my visits to Descanso Gardens, they had a show of Sogetsu Ikebana.  It is a Japanese art of flower arranging.  The emphasis is on expressing the spirit of the moment.  I found the arrangements beautiful and compelling.  These pieces were contributed by the group Yokou.  Here are some of my favorites.  I especially liked the pieces with birds of paradise in them, but there were so many wonderful pieces!  This is part I of II.  Edit: Part II is here.

Here is a work in progress view of my unicorn painting inspired by a photograph by Shawn Parker.  I am getting close to finishing it.  I need to paint the mane and then I feel the horn could be lighter, but that depends on how it looks once I've painted in the mane.

Unicorn Painting Work in Progress & White Chocolate Fudge...

Here is a work in progress view of my unicorn painting.  I've mainly worked on the unicorn's eye at this point.  Eyes are very predominant in my paintings; so, when possible, I like to get them established fairly early on in the painting...

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

I made this recipe for the holidays and I think it was well received.  It certainly appealed to my sweet tooth.  Laurie at her blog here, "I Love a Cloudy Day" posted the recipe.  I love her blog, if you haven't visited her before, it is a delight.  Her fudge looked absolutely perfect, mine less so, but still tasty!

She said "you just melt 3 cups white chocolate pieces, stir in one can Eagle Brand milk, have ready an 8 x 8 pan with parchment , break up  in large chunks 12 peanut butter cups in bottom of pan then pour chocolate eagle brand mixture over, crumble the last few peanut butter cups on top, chill and slice, wow is it deadly, my my, very good."

It was delicious indeed.  I crumbled three chocolate peanut butter cups (well, I had to taste one to be sure it was a good batch!) on top, most of the crumblies didn't stick though.  When I do the recipe again, I'll try to push them in a bit more.

My blog/page has been less about art and more about the holidays right now, but I was very happy to do a little painting on my unicorn yesterday!

Unicorn Painting Work in Progress...

Here is a work in progress view of my unicorn painting.  I've done a bit of work on the background.  I started off with the idea of doing a very light background on this painting inspired by Shawn Parker's photograph, but have decided instead to have a darker one so that the white unicorn will shine...

Unicorn Sketch on Canvas...

Here is my sketch for a unicorn.  As it is a magical being, I've made the eye and mane bigger than my inspiration photograph by Shawn Parker.  It is on canvas and my next step with it will be to paint the background.  Well, technically I paint the sides of the canvas first, but that doesn't really count...  I have darkened the sketch a little bit in photoshop to hopefully make it easier to see.  This is a small 5"x7" piece, so I was able to scan it in.  The camera and the scanner both have virtues, but for smaller pieces, I usually prefer to scan them if there isn't any paint or if the paint is completely dry...

Sketches of Three Horses Eyes...

Here are sketches of three horses eyes.  I took a good look at my unicorn sketch and decided that the problem I was having with it was that the eye I sketched was too non specific, so I decided to gather more reference images of horses or more specifically horses eyes.  I'm going to take these into photoshop and see which works the best, I'm leaning towards the second one right now...
