A Photograph of a Purple Artichoke Flower Plant at Descanso Gardens...

These flowers have a definite Dr. Seuss feel.  I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens in the section where they grow edibles.  This is one of my favorite vegetables, I was surprised at how beautiful the plant was.  I also took some close up pictures of the flower which I will try to share next Wednesday or Thursday.  We actually had artichokes as part of dinner last night...  I hope you will enjoy this photo.

Here is a picture of me, Lisa Isabella Russo, by my piece, for some reason I'm looking up, but I guess that makes sense in a show about the cosmos...

Here is a picture of Alex Ledante of the Strange Art of Ledante http://www.facebook.com/alxledante posing Memento style by his three pieces in the black frames.

The top piece is by Gore and the one below is by Brett Hess.

This piece is by Ken Dougherty.

There was live sketching of this beautiful model.

Over the course of the evening, we were able to see this gorgeous model transform, she and the makeup artist were incredible!

It was an inspiring art show.  To see more photos taken by others, please visit the event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/627597017295564/

This is my second drawing of this angel fairy, I think I'm much closer in this sketch to where I want to be with her before I start the painting.  Her neck is a bit more slender and her hair has a bit more movement.  I still need to make some adjustments, but I'm close to starting on this painting.

Octopus Femme Alien Original Painting in the AREA 51 Show...

This painting is being included in the AREA 51: Aliens, UFO's, The Cosmos And Beyond; ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL tomorrow!  This is my first time painting anything like this, she has a look of intensity, perhaps she is part of a fierce warrior race.  She measure 11"x14" unframed and 14"x17" framed.  This octopus alien is titled "pieuvrefemme" as inspired by Lorraine of Out of Sight L's comment about the French word for octopus.  She has octopus inspired eyes and tentacles.

The show will run a month.  The show details are here and I will be at the opening this Saturday!

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Athena and Her Owl Big Eye Original Painting Work in Progress...

Here is another work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  The eyes are almost done.  I'm going to have to start a fresh palette if I'm going to have room to mix her skin tones...

A Photograph of a Purple Burgundy Icelandic Poppy at Descanso Gardens...

I believe this purple burgundy flower is an Icelandic poppy.  I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens some time ago, they aren't currently blooming here, but I love to visit flowers in my photographs that I have seen at different times.  I think poppies are such a sweet and lovely flower.  I hope you will enjoy this photo.

Here is another work in progress view of my 11"x14" original big eye alien octopus femme painting.  In this WIP I've finished the tentacles and blocked in her skin tone, but I'm going to go a little lighter for her face.  She's been included in a show this weekend!  If you'll be in town on Saturday, I will be in attendance at the opening and would love to meet you.  The show details are here and I will share the painting in her frame on Friday...

Music by Jean-Honoré Fragonard at the Norton Simon Museum of Art + Athena with Owl WIP...

I love this painting by Jean-Honoré Fragonard that hangs in the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  It is thought that the woman may be Erato, a muse of music and lyric poetry.  During a lecture I attended, the speaker said that this painting would likely be hung high, perhaps above a doorway.  It has a beautiful soft focus that I love.

Here is a work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  I think I'm almost done with the background at this point (although the painting is showing a bit darker here then it actually is on my monitor)...

Big Eye Angel Fairy Sketch Art...

Here is a sketch of a big eye angel fairy face.  I'm not sure if I'll take her any further, but I loved her up swept hair with the cascading bangs...
