New Year Musings and My Big Eye Gothic Fairy with a Rose...

I'm always hesitant to make new year resolutions, because making them is easy and keeping them less so...  I have a lot of ongoing goals that I hope I will continue to strive towards.  "Rose Immersion" is part of my big eye fairy garden guardian series I'd like to do more with.  That pink rose is one of our winter roses from our garden, I brought it inside to join some other flowers I'd bought for Christmas and when I put it in the vase realized it looked just right with that painting...

My Photograph of Meerkats at the Los Angeles Zoo...

I took this photograph of these meerkats at the Los Angeles Zoo at around this time of year last year.  It was a brisk day for us, and the meerkats certainly agreed.  Most of them stayed by the heating lamps, but these two braved our Los Angeles winter weather for a little while...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I am listing "Encantadoras," an original floral painting.  This painting of golden orange marigolds will probably be the last painting I complete this year.  Marigolds are a flower loved in Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos festivities.  I think they are enchanting and lovely.  The art has a soft realist impressionist feel...

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here this week from Tuesday to Tuesday with a theme of flowers, they are some of my favorites...

Portrait Art of Me by the Wonderous Rose Adare

When artist Rose Adare had her campaign to fund her west coast tour, I jumped at the chance to buy a portrait by her.  Rose did this art based on a photograph of me that I have in my auctions near the bottom here.  It is drawn in pastels.  I gave this portrait as one of my Christmas gifts to my mother, she was thrilled!  To see more of Rose's extraordinary art, please visit her on facebook here and her webpage is here.  She is an amazing and inspiring artist!

Art Sketch of a Sultry Big Eye Gothic Fairy Angel...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  I think she has a subtle, sultry quality...  I've given her the suggestion of wings as I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  My what big eyes she has!  Her eyes are large even for one of my big eyed girls, but they seem to be filled with joy and wonder...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

Wings of Fairy Angel Big Eye Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...

I am continuing to work on the wings of this big eye fairy angel.  In this work in progress, I've blocked in the bottom portion of her wings.  Next I will be refining her wings a bit and then I'm on to her eyes.  I love painting eyes!  In this wip photo in addition to the original painting, you can see the photo that I took of a Painted Lady butterfly peeking out that I'm using as inspiration for her wings...  I'm not sure if I'll do any work on her today though, I still have quite a list that remains to get ready for Christmas...  I hope the holiday season is treating you well!
